This book is written by Clive Hallett and it is meant for fashion students and designers. The book comes with 125 fabric swatches. You can consider this as a tool-book because it introduced you to different fabrics in their different fibers and also the way they have been made, whether by weaving or knitting.

It begins with all types of weaving and knitting, and if there is no fabric swatches attached, it will follow by a very thorough description.

It also addressed the yarn counts for different yarns. Whether it is natural, animal or synthetic fiber, it tells you the yarn nature and the relationship with the fabrics for the weights.

Then it takes you into the three parts, animal fibers, plant fibers, and man-made fibers. The book has also pictures showing you the application in fashion and you can get the relation between the fiber and the fashion in a very clear direction.

Most of us in the fashion business would basically understand the contents of this book. But to find something organized in the great details is very impressive.

BTW, all the fabric swatches are in their greige forms and that can explain you very well their origins, as whatever being dyed, or printed or by the special finishing, would give you another fabric interest. Those are for you to explore later on.
