SCENE TO BE SEEN “ART AS FASHION” SHOW – 2022 APRIL

On February 12, 2022, I was lucky enough to attend, volunteer, and curate for the 5^th Annual “Scene To Be Seen” Fashion Show in downtown Naples, Florida.  This show is put on by Naples Art Association and is their signature event.  In past years they have showcased gowns made 100% out of chocolate by Norman Love, the chocolatier, have had gowns made entirely out of flowers, and outfits made from recycled t-shirts.  Each curated fashion piece was better than the one before.  This year was more exciting than ever with a gala dinner, live auction, amazing runway show, and even an online auction to tempt even more bidders. 

“Seen to be Seen” was launched in 2017 as a unique and engaging way to showcase area artists and designers, to bring art to life in a dynamic three-dimensional format, and to serve as a way to raise money for Naples Art’s education programs and charitable alliances.  This year some of the designers came from as far away as New York City and Mexico City. Some of the designers were still in high school!

At Naples Art, they believe good art should be accessible to everyone, and they work hard to offer high-quality art exhibitions, art education programs and events for all.

Each year, we ask for unique, out-of-the-box, inventive submissions for Scene to Be Seen—pieces that challenge the whole concept of wearable art and are bolder than those featured in typical ready-to-wear fashion shows. The winning designer and model were given a cash prize after hundreds of ballots were counted.  The winner is one of the looks below. See if you can guess!
