Gabrielle Chanel: Fashion Manifesto, V&A

Victoria & Albert Museum presented the first time its blockbuster exhibition dedicated to the French Couturier Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. The show is fully booked until Christmas and there are still availability in January and February.

The exhibition shows the history of the House of Chanel, from Coco’s first millinery shop in Paris in 1910 to her last collection in 1971, and her legacy today.

The show is until February 25, 2024.

 Rebel: 30 Years of London Fashion, Design Museum
The Design Museum is celebrating its 30 years of the British Fashion Council’s Newegen program which supports young designers. It features nearly 100 looks from fashion designers such as Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane and Simone Rocha.

The exhibition also includes films, drawings and other archive materials and memorabilia.

The show is until February 11, 2024.

The Missing Thread, Somerset House
It is showing the “untold stories of Black British fashion” from the 1970s to today. This exhibition shows those Black designers who were either denied access to the fashion industry, or being misrepresented or excluded from the British fashion. This archive is exhibited for the first time in the UK.

The show started in September 21 and last until January 7, 2024.

The Fabric of Democracy, Fashion and Textile Museum
This intriguing exhibition explored “printed propaganda textiles” from the French Revolution to Brexit. It shows how textiles have been used by communist and fascist regimes. Textiles on display spread across the time from toile de Jouy in France, Japanese robes from the Asia-Pacific was and Cultural Revolution-era in China.

The show started in September 29 and last until March 3, 2024.

Fashion City, Museum of London Dockland Museum of London

The Museum of London used this exhibition to demonstrate how the Jewish designers have helped to make London a world-class city of fashion. It showed the traditional tailor’s workshop in the East End or a Carnaby Street boutiques in the swinging 60s.

The show started in October 13 and last until April 14, 2024.

Crown to Couture, Kensington Palace
This star-studded exhibition is the same to today’s red carpet as there are more than 200 objects on display, both historical and modern. One of the highlights is the ivory lace dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in “Roman Holiday” and the 1954 Oscars.

The show will only last until October 29, 2023.

Style & Society: Dressing the Georgians, Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace

It showed the Georgian fashion parade for what people wore at all levels of society, from laundry maids to royalty.

The show end already on October 8, 2023.

The Cult of Beauty, Wellcome Collection
It explores notions of beauty across time and cultures. It emphasizes on morality, status, health, age, race and gender on evolution of ideas and beauty.

The show will start on October 26 and last until April 28, 2024.

Designed for Life, London College of Fashion, UAL, Olympic Park
The London College of Fashion used this exhibition to coincide with the opening of its new East Bank campus on the Olympic Park in Stratford. It featured the five immersive areas in textiles, design, film, photography, artefacts and testimonies. 

The show started in October 2 and last until January 19, 2024.

Gucci Cosmos, 180 Studios
After its debut in Shanghai in April, this exhibition about Gucci is coming to London. The show is done by British set designer and artist Es Devlin who redesign the show for London and it is featuring Gucci’s founder, Guccio Gucci, its archive, including designers by creative directors including Tom Ford, Frida Giannini and Alessandro Michele.

After London, the show will move to Paris and then Kyoto. 

The show started in October 11 and last until December 31, 2023.
