In this article, we spent a lot of time talking about the luxury market which seemed to be the sector doing better than the rest of the market players. Luxury brands like LVMH is still doing better than the other market leaders. We noticed that it is still expanding itself into areas like furniture and make-up lines to expand their beauty business. Their products are only available in their stores.

Among all the luxury brands, Hermès is the best performer, and their handbags have a waiting list for over a year which is something very extraordinary.

We also read about the coming back of Victoria’s Secret just because they have decided to become more inclusive, which also means that this time it is more willing to listen to the market for expanding the size-range. The use of social media can create more market reaction to the brands. And of course, the launching of the fashion show again can help a lot to the brand image. 

We have to carry the bad news to the market about the closing down of the Hudson Bay. For a company who has been in operation for 355 years and have to close their door is something sad. Although during my career I have never been doing business with them, and yet I have met a person very briefly from this company in the early 1980s, afterwards we have never made any contact again. 

We will continue to let you know the challenges out there.
