From the Desk of the Publisher
We are entering now into 2026 and the first piece we would like to share with our readers is the exhibition calendar. We hope that our readers can well prepare their trips and find time to attend to these shows. I always take the shows as the compass and as the thermometer to see how the market reacts.
It is especially sensitive at this time because the tariffs are in place for most nations, but the world is in a more dangerous situation as Trump has just arrested Venezuela’s president Maduro and has brought him to the U.S. to be trialed in the court in New York.
The world situation is very challenging, and I’ll just see how the exhibitions are doing in different part of the world. We have to keep our fingers cross.
Opening Remark
COMEXPOSIUM is a French events company, a subsidiary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Paris-Île-de-France region and the Crédit Agricole Assurances fund. Comexposium is the world’s third largest trade fair organizer and has been expanding in France and internationally. It organizes more than 150 events each year, both professional and publicly, the exhibitions are covering more than 10 business sectors in more than 22 countries.
So that we know, Comexposium oldest trade fair, the Paris Fair, was established in 1904. Comexposium was created in 2008 from the merger between Comexpo and Exposium, together it formed the Comexposium.
In 2009, Comexposium acquired the company Sodes, organizer of the ready-to-wear trade show in Paris, in collaboration with WSN Development.
In 2011, Comexposium exported its brands abroad. SIAL was launched in North America, Asia, and the Middle East. It became the co-owner of the Who’s Next and Première Classe trade shows.
Over the years it continued to acquire, or to become co-owners of tradeshows of different natures internationally. Lately, we read that it was entrusted with the organization of the SIEC by the National Council of Shopping Centers (CNCC) in 2022.
In 2023, Comexposium expanded its international presence in partnership with the National Retail Federation to introduce the Retail’s Big Show to the Asia-Pacific region.
Last and not the least, in 2024, Comexposium acquired the Salom du Chocolat.
With the departure of Marie-Laure Bellon, Comexposium took over operational control of Eurovet. Eurovet was part of the French Knitwear, Lingerie, and Swimwear Federation responsible for events that are related in the various industries.
It was after a January 2020 edition of the Salon International de la Lingerie and Interfilère, the show was disrupted by transportation strikes Iin Paris. (When was there a moment without any strikes when we were visiting Paris?) Eurovet ended up cancelling its Unique by Mode City show in June and followed by Interfilère in September. It even went further when Eurovet announced in early November of the same year for the cancellation of the Salon International de la Lingerie and Interfilère initially scheduled for January 23-25, 2021, in Paris.
Eurovet tried to move the show to an online version of the Salon International de la Lingerie for overviewing of materials and trends for Fall/Winter 2022/23, as well as a series of webinars. It was within this context, Eurovet offered an essential acceleration in the complementary digital offerings for this transformation. It was also during the time of the pandemic where international attendees were found dropping. Obviously, this was not accepted by exhibitors and buyers, and in February 2021, Comexposium, in conjunction with the French Federation of Knitwear, Lingerie, and Swimwear decided to take over the show.
I recalled that our industry went through several eras for the tradeshows and the industry was shifting from Düsseldorf to Lyon, and then Paris. We can refer to the time eras as the following:
Igedo in Düsseldorf – from 1970s to 1980s.
Mode City in Lyon – from late 1980s to early 1990.
Salon International de la Lingerie – from 1990s until now.
I am writing for the nostalgic reason, and there are quite a few out there can remember those days.
I also would like to write about the exhibitions in this side of the world—the United States.
Curve New York fills in for the European’s lingerie fair. You can consider it as the North American counterpart, highlighting the U.S. lingerie brands and its buying power.

Closing Remark
Exhibitions are used for the industry to bring everyone closer together. It’s a meeting place, a place for exchanging ideas, and most important as the place to promote business. During the exhibitions we can host forums, conferences, and create platforms for interaction.
We realized that at this time it is very challenge because of the world’s economy. It has in fact affected some companies to exhibit and even to visit as it is the consideration for saving some expenses. When I heard about this part, I felt most sad.
Let’s try to hold ourselves as a community and pull ourselves through this adverse situation. Let’s trust that as the saying, “Behind every cloud, there is a silver lining.”
