It was during the end of 2019, Mr. Pressman, the vice president of Pantone Color Institute, said, “The megatrends that are happening in our culture can often find clues in color trends.”

Pantone, as a global authoritative color institution, returns to the classics of 2019 and launches Classic Blue. The color trend center of international paint brands is not far behind. They have launched four other colors for 2020 from a wider scope.

No matter which color you choose, you can see their enthusiasm and positive attitude. In the next ten years, a new era of color is about to start!

This is InDigest’s 36th article being published and it will take you 12 minutes to read it.

Classic Blue | Multi-Sensory Experience

Classic blue, a familiar, calming sky blue. It is a color of blueberries, Pepsi can and sky.

“From an emotional and psychological
point of view, blue always represents a
certain level of calmness and reliability.
This is a color you can rely on”, said Ms.
Eiseman, executive director of Pantone.

In fact, the color of Classic Blue has been
ubiquitous. In our life, it is everywhere.

packaging, apparel,
interior design, and in
many areas.

Perhaps Classic Blue is a bit
nostalgic, but after 2020, it no
longer represents classic
design, or a single visual
effect, it has been given
vitality and has a deeper
connotation.

Pantone worked with Artehouse in
Washington to create an immerse,
multi-sensory, comprehensive display
for Classic blue. From sight, smell, taste,
touch and hearing, you can experience
the impact of Classic Blue.

Pantone also collaborated with
WeareFirmenich, the world’s largest
private fragrance company, to produce
the Classic Blue scent essence.
The scent of PANTONE 19-4052 Classic
Blue is a fragrant contemplation of
where sky and see meet, a boundless
blue where there is no end.
The scent is like contemplation at the
intersection of the sky and the ocean, a

The scent first opens with notes of blue water and sea salt lifted by airy sky. An accord of a fluffy cloud combines with water lily and seaweed, with notes of blue musk, soothing minerals, and ocean timber for depth, calm and a reassuring finish.

There are cushions in everywhere, with the glass of cocktail, tasted like “flowering vine.”

Classic Blue’s voice is a “vivid nostalgic”. Artists often use Blue to express melancholy, but it can also be trendy for young
people today. Pantone even collaborates with audio company Audio UX to create sounds that belong to Classic Blue.
Pantone and Audio’s collaboration
This piece of music is called “Vivid Nostalgia” and it is using an innovative approach to the traditional musical instruments
to bridge the past and the present. Among them, there are four different rhapsodies, the themes are “Expansion”, “Lush”,
“Ambient” and “Soundscapes”. The feeling is like in the nature, walking lightly towards a comfortable and familiar front.

Pantone has collaborated with home brand
Theinside to develop a fabric that transforms Class
Blue into a soft, velvety texture that emphasizes
comfort.

Classic Blue’s touch is “soft texture”, and Pantone
has executive director, Ms. Eiseman, predicted
that blue taffeta and velvet will be back in fashion.

Ms. Eiseman encouraged designers and consumers to think color for the new decade. She said, “The more we talk about it, the more we become of our inner colors.”

Chinese Porcelain | Rich and Traditional

In the fast-paced world of 2020, colors that can be calming will be popular. In additional to the Classic Blue, Porcelain
Chinese porcelain color launched by the international paint brand PPG’s Color Trend Center is also a blue color, but it is more traditional than the previous color.

Chinese Porcelain is a deep, shaded, orchid blue with a violet undertone.

With the color of Chinese flavor, Chinese Porcelain has more cultural connotation. The mix of blue and white is natural and comfortable.

PPG 2020 Global Color Conference

“As we look to 2020, we know that color is the trend. Consumers are tiring of stark grays and are looking to infuse colors
that delight the senses,” said Schlotter. “Blue is the easiestpossible entry point from the world of neutrals to the world of color, and PPG’s Chinese Porcelain delivers the energy and brightness of cobalt blue – a trending hue taking the automotive, consumer electronics and fashion industry by storm. It also incorporates the enveloping of a deep, muted navy tone that is popular in residential and hospitality design.”

Minty Fresh

Minty Color is the annual color of Dunn-Edwards 2020, full of freshness and freedom. The mint color is not very “new”,
but it means that we accept the past and dare to break the rules. Communicate the relationship between life and
technology with a mentality of creating new things in a subtle, relaxed and gentle way.

Picture from: Dunn-Edwards

“With this mint-infused pastel hue, we are upbeat as we take an
optimistic approach to creating and controlling elements that are
within our power”, said Dunn-Edwards.

Inspired by green nature, Minty Fresh was born, and it also heralded
a new beginning. For an unknown life, Minty Fresh represents an
optimistic attitude to control what is within you.

A subtle and relaxing pastel that
conveys the partnership between
technology and nature. Minty Fresh
also expresses how we make design
and technology coexist.

Green represents nature, and the design
of “sustainability” is the tone of their
symbiosis, which expresses the balance
between embracing life and moving
forward.

Minty Fresh also shows that we are
moving forward with enthusiasm. We
look forward to the great changes
brought about by the advancement of
science and technology in this new
decade, and a better way for social
development in a global perspective.

Minty Fresh reflects the emphasis on
inner-thoughts, looking for irrational
things, and mobilizing our
imagination. At the same time, we
pay more attention to our health and
return to ourselves.

This year’s fashion show, you can see the figure of Minty Fresh. The light reflected from the smooth silk fabric makes it
shiny and adds a sense of refinement.

While design follows the development of society, it
seems a bit confusing. In the new decade, we should hold
an attitude like “Minty Fresh” and learn to create new
things and create a new order in chaos.

Back to Nature

“This particular green is not too sharp, it’s not too light, it’s a perfect little sweet spot that I think resonates really well and translates really well into home,” Woelfel Tells MyDomaine.

From Behr

“This particular green is not too sharp and not too light, and it resonates well.” Behr explained to Erika Woelfel, vice president of color and creative service.

As we enter now the new decade, we strive to add vitality to our lives and change our lifestyle. “Return to Nature” is a restorative and vibrant green that can be paired perfectly with other colors indoors and outdoors.

From Behr

To highlight Back to Nature alongside the very environment that inspired its choice as the Color of the Year, Behr and Home Depot invited a group of journalists to Napa Valley, California the reveal in person. As we walked through a path lined with eucalyptus trees and agave plants, we all started sharing our predictions: yellow, green, burgundy and it is a wine country, after all.

Erika Woelfel, vice president of color and creative services that Behr even describes it as “kind of like nature’s neutral. Back to Nature is a green, but with a touch of yellow. Erika Woelfel described it as “nature-like neutrality.”

“It can be easily paired with other colors, but it actually injects a little personality and attracts all kinds of people.”

Home Depot’s trend and design expert Sarah Fishburne told MyDomaine: “You can out it in a very modern setting or a very classic setting, and that’s what makes it perfect.”

Chanel 2020 SS

The fashion circle has also incorporated “nature” early. Chanel’s show for early spring 2020 collection was arranged as a green railway station platform, and many green plants were placed on the platform. The model came out of the green plants, and the feeling of spring came.

Blush Power

In 2020, we are continuing our journey to find a life full of happiness and fulfillment. It is been a few years since Millennial Pink became the color dujour, but its popularity is far from waning.

In the new decade, we will continue to find a life full of happiness and satisfaction. Millennial Pink has been popular for several years, but its popularity has not diminished.

“Romance is a soft and dreamy blush but that evokes serenity while simultaneously making a statement.”

Sherwin Williams senior color designer Ashley Banbury said, “2020 will be a year to create charming home spaces, and every time you walk through the door, these colors will welcome you with open arms and continue to surprise you.”

Benjamin Moore also chose Blush Powder as the color of the year, but the description for Blush Powder is first light, like the first light of dawn to us.

Although the Blush Powder is pink, it also maintains a neutral element. The pink has a light beige color. As a substitute for white and gray, it can be perfectly combined with many colors.

When the Blush Powder is used in Bralettes, it adds another romantic and poetic touch to the unconstrained underwear style.

Carrara Custom Designs, a custom design company, said,” Design may not save the world, but it can make everything look better!” And color is the most effective design tool in the hands of designers.
